Intuitive abstract art that’s color-forward and undeniably bold.
Thanks for your interest in my art. Welcome to my little piece of the internet, where I share what I’m up to.
I crave creating. For me, making art is an exploration — a never-ending journey shaped by curiosity. I push materials, follow what catches my attention, and often surprise myself along the way. I hope to surprise you, too.
As you explore, you’ll notice work that is often quirky, bold, and energetic — layered marks, fragments of pattern, and dynamic color relationships that suggest rather than explain. I hope it invites you to find your own interpretations.
Take a look around — I’d love to know what draws you in.
About my work
Art for the Sake of Art
Since 2015, I’ve been making art that delights me. For many years, it was only shared with friends, family, and on Instagram. In 2023, I began exhibiting my work more publicly.
I care deeply about the process of making. I create for the sheer joy of it — following curiosity, experimenting, making bold decisions, and seeing where each move leads. You might say I’m a visual risk-taker and thrill-seeker.
Choosing and experiencing art is personal. If something here makes you pause, react, or feel something — whatever that response may be — then the work has done its job. I’ll keep creating, and perhaps something you see here will stay with you.
I always appreciate hearing what stands out or resonates. You never know — a future piece might grow out of something you noticed first.
About Fran S. Simon
I am a Maryland-based mixed-media artist, rule-breaker, artistic risk-taker, and heart transplant recipient. A lifelong learner, I spend as much time learning from other artists as I do on my own work. I’m also an exuberant dog lover, grounded by the steady support of my husband, son, and daughter-in-law. My work has been exhibited in regional juried and member exhibitions, including those of the Montgomery Art Association and The Artists Gallery (TAG) in Frederick, Maryland.
I value community and collaboration, both in my life and in my approach to my work.
My circuitous path through marketing, business development, and consulting—and my deep engagement with and observation of young children—continues to shape how I work. I hope my work expresses energy, boldness, and a kind of fearlessness—both in how I create and in how I invite viewers to engage with what they see.
I make work that I hope pulls you in and invites you to return to explore layered marks, interruptions, and imperfections, and to experience something felt before it is fully understood.
